Mission

Next Generation SL Project was founded in November 2005 to help the country of Sierra Leone in West Africa to transform itself following a decade-long civil war.

Sierra Leone—a scenic paradise adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, rich in natural, mineral, & human resources, and with a vibrant traditional culture—has been ravaged by war, corruption, disease, malnutrition, & poverty.

Watching this tragedy unfold, a Sierra Leonean native living in the U.S. & a California native came together & hatched the idea to create an organization that would seek long-term solutions to these devastating problems.

Although it is blessed with a seemingly inexhaustible deposit of minerals and land suitable for agriculture and industry, Sierra Leone ranks as the world’s #1 most disadvantaged country—according to the U.N.’s 2007/2008 Human Development Index Report.   It is the world’s deadliest nation for giving birth, and one third of children do not reach the age of five in Sierra Leone.

With almost 45% of the population 14 or under, Sierra Leone today is a country ready for change.

Next Generation SL Project seeks to catalyze this change about by allowing Sierra Leone’s next generation of young people the educational opportunities to advance their country out of entrenched need, while simultaneously helping provide their country with the basic health & nutritional foundation upon which advancement lies.

Next Generation SL Project is non-political, non-affiliated, holistically-motivated NGO that holds a basic faith in humanity’s power for love, goodness, self-transformation, & prosperity.

Next Generation SL Project’s goal is to see Sierra Leone transform itself into a role-model for all developing countries with the respect embodied in Sierra Leone’s national motto: “Unity, Freedom, Justice.”
